Vampire Diaries Season Three
Now that Stefan has reformed back to his early days as a vampire when he was known as "the ripper," Elena finds herself in the company of Damon much more than she's used to. Damon professed his love for Elena in both seasons one and two to both her and Stefan. Elena, in the last episode of season two, kissed Damon which shows that she cares for him more than just a friend. So now that Stefan is no longer in the way to stop Damon from moving in on Elena, what's going to happen in season three? The season three premiere gives fans hope that Stefan isn't lost forever when he calls Elena at the end of the episode to help him get through what he has to for his brother Damon.
The other characters have a lot going on as well in case Elena, Stefan and Damon aren't enough. In the first episode titles, "The Birthday" with Elena turning 18, Carolyn, who is a vampire and one of her best friends, throws her a party and becomes jealous when Tyler, a werewolf who Carolyn has become very close to, brings a date to the party. Once this is established, Carolyn admits that she wants Tyler by making out with him at the party and then leaving with him to go back to his house. Of course this isn't all that happened to poor Carolyn who, when trying to sneak out is shot full of verbane by Tyler's mother. Can't she just ever be happy?
And Jeremy, Elena's brother who's lost too many loved ones in season one and two, is now seeing a few of those loved ones again. Unfortunately they are dead and these are their ghosts. This is a result of Bonnie, his girlfriend and Elena's other best friend, saving him with magic when the sheriff, Carolyn's mother shot him at the end of season two. What does this mean for Jeremy? No clue other than he's now back to smoking pot again to try and deal with everything that's going on in his life.
Our new bad boy Klaus, one of the original vampires who is now a hybrid vampire/werewolf, has plans for Stefan. Wanting to create an army of hybrids, he had Stephan drink human blood until he was mad with it. Though Klaus believes he's transformed into his former self, it's clear in the first episode of season three that he is trying his best to keep it together and not lose it because of all the horrible things Klaus is making Stefan do. He makes a bold statement to keep Damon alive by killing off his pretend girlfriend Andy whom he has compelled to stay with him. After Stefan kills Andy, Damon sees that he and Elena were naive to think that Stefan was capable of saving. Only Elena at the ends knows he isn't what he's pretending to be.
The Love Triangle
Damon has always been a flamboyant character who thrives on being an careless, emotionless vampire. Elena, played by Nina Dobrev and real life love Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon, are the focus of season three since Elena's onscreen love Stefan, played by Paul Wesley is out of the picture, according to executive producer Jessica Plec. In an online interview on the CW, we also learn that a few episodes into this season, Stepan will discover something that will make him rethink his reasons for holding back, and push him closer to the edge. What this may be is anyone's guess though something involving Elena falling for Damon would break Stefan with her love being the one thing that holds him together.
Fans of the show are ready for whatever's to come this season, especially if it means seeing more of Damon. Will Stefan break and become the full fledged ripper he's capable of or will Elena's love bring him back home? Do Damon and Elena hook up or does she stay faithful to Stefan? For those answers we'll just have to stay tuned.
